Ketchmore Kids is a non-profit dedicated to using hip-hop music to work with youth on a regular basis on topics such as gang-prevention, self-esteem and goal setting. In addition, Ketchmore Kids conducts events to benefit the community at large, and those in need. On December 10th, from 2pm-5pm, in the lot located in front of Master Kutz Barber & Beauty Salon, at 1610 Ashley Road, Ketchmore Kids will be hosting a toy drive. This drive will feature music from the teen students of With These Hands Mix Academy, My 92.7 & Power 98 Radio Personalities, performances by local artists, like the Riddiculous Kiddz, Vendors, and other community organizations like Gang of One and The Charlotte Boxing academy. This event is free and open to the public. Ketchmore Kids asks that attendees bring a new, unwrapped toy and/or gift item to donate, as the collection of toys/gifts to benefit those less fortunate is the main focus of this community event.
“With budget cuts and the overall economy affecting so many areas negatively, this is a time for the community to count our blessings, appreciate the small things, and come together to help others. The only true way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others” Chanell Ketchmore, Founder

On a previous Saturday (Oct. 15th), in Charlotte, NC. The Ketchmore Kids Foundation organized a Charity Car Wash Fundraiser event to raise money for children and the forthcoming Ketchmore Kids Annual Toy Drive event to help give gifts to children from less fortunate families around the holidays. Lots of people showed up to have their cars washed on that lovely Saturday afternoon, and tons of local celebrity recording artists showed up to give back and lend a helping hand with the event. New Carolina Inquirer contributor and frequent Ketchmore Kids volunteer Jay attended the event, made a donation and was lucky enough to film on the spot interviews with the artists that participated. In the interviews each vocalist explains why they love and don't mind making time to help out in the community, and assist with Ketchmore Kids. The artists were humble enough to put Ketchmore Kids first on this day, however we still able to get the artists to plug themselves as well. You can watch all the interviews by clicking the embedded youtube videos below.
